Encouragement
When you show a hearing aid to a child for the first time, it may not be the best. There are children who accept their headphones easily and others can not. Below I will list some suggestions that may help you. Introduce the use of headphones part of the outfit. This is to help children get used to wearing headphones.
Wear the headphones when the child wakes up and remove them shortly before going to bed. Get a fake hearing aid and wear it. This is how you show him what he looks like. Praise your child when he wears them. Make it a special day. When your child wears a headset for the first time, do something special. (maybe in a park to play). Do not pay too much attention to headphones rather than toys.
While wearing his headphones, let him play with his favorite toy. Let your child choose their favorite color for the headphones or if he wants to put stickers on them to decorate them. Get a lubricating cream for the molds. This helps to insert the mold more easily into his ear. Ask your hearing care professional.
In the beginning, wear it for a few hours and increase this time every day. He should learn to listen only with headphones. If your child tells you he does not want them and takes them out, you stay calm and put them on politely again. If it pulls them out again, leave it for a while, wait and then try again. Reward it. Children love praise. Negotiate them. Make a diagram that says how many hours he wears them a day and when those hours increase reward him with something. If he insists on pulling them out or complains about the volume or the mold bothers him, check if his ear is red. There are some signs that the mold is bothering him. Is the mold too tight? Contact your hearing aid.
